September 18, 2013. Simpson Safety Equipment Australia has been granted approval to recertify Safety Solutions / Simpson branded R3, Hutchens II and Hybrid Head and Neck Restraints to SFI 38.1 criteria.
Competitors racing with an SFI 38.1 Head and Neck Restraint device must have their device recertified every 5 years from the date shown on the existing SFI label, in order to receive a new conformance label to keep their device valid for racing.
Devices will be inspected for wear and in most cases will require replacement of the Tether system, Shoulder rubbers etc in line with SFI guidelines before being validated with a new SFI 38.1 label.
What this means for Australian and New Zealand competitors is that they can have their devices recertified locally, saving on costs both in dollar terms and time rather than having to ship back and forth to the US with it's associated risks.
Recertification also means that competitors do not need to go out and buy a new device, thus saving them money.
Further information can be found in the 'Head and Neck Restraints' product section.
