SFI 38.1 Re-certification Programme

Competitors racing with an SFI 38.1 Head and Neck Restraint device must have their device recertified every 5 years from the date indicated on the existing devices' label, as per SFI's new 38.1 criteria, to keep the validity of their device current.

We are able to Recertify Safety Solutions and Simpson SFI 38.1 head and neck restraint units such as the R3, Hutchens II, Hybrids etc, in line with the SFI 5 year programme.

Devices which are 5 years old or more will require an authorised inspection, replacement of the tethers, screws, shoulder rubber and quick releases to be re-validated with a fresh SFI 38.1 certification label.

Competitors can choose any 1 of 3 compatible tether systems - Quick Release ( D - ring) on helmet, M6 Quick release or Post Anchor (Hans type). There is also an option of sliding tether. All at no additional charge.

Should it be determined there is excessive wear of the harness, the unit will require a factory inspection. If the cost of necessary repairs are declined, the device will be returned without a new SFI recertification sticker.

Competitors are responsible for shipping of their clean device (s) to and from Simpson Safety Equipment Australia and to the factory if the need arises. Registered post or some form of trackability is strongly advised.

The process will be done as quickly as possible but could take up to 2 weeks plus shipping time. For this reason it is encouraged to plan the recertification carefully.

If any units require cleaning prior to inspection a $25 fee will apply.
